Who we are
Backstop Web is a WordPress care and repair service run by Melvin Monterroza, based in El Salvador. In this policy, "we" means Backstop Web. For anything about your data, email contact@backstopweb.com.
What we collect
We only collect what you give us or what we need to do the work.
- Form details. When you use a form on this site: your name, email, website address, and what you tell us in the message or dropdowns.
- Emails. Anything you send to us by email.
- Site access for clients. Logins you give us so we can work on your site, such as WordPress or hosting access.
- Billing details. Your name, email and what you bought. Card or bank details are handled by the payment processor, not stored by us.
- Basic server logs. Like every website, our host records things such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, for security.
How we use it
- To reply to you.
- To check, repair or look after your website.
- To send reports and invoices.
- To keep this site and your site secure.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for ads. We do not add you to a mailing list.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not run analytics or advertising cookies right now. WordPress may set a cookie if you log in, which only applies to site admins.
The fonts on this site load from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google, which can see your IP address. If we add analytics later, such as Google Analytics, we will update this page first.
Who we share it with
Only the services we need to run the business:
- Our web host, which stores this site and the form messages.
- Our email providers, which deliver messages between us.
- A payment processor, when you pay us.
- Google, for the fonts described above.
We share data with anyone else only if the law requires it.
Your site logins
We use the access you give us only for the work you asked for. We keep it private and do not share it. When the work ends, we remove our access or ask you to, and we recommend you change those passwords.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and client records as long as we need them to help you and to keep normal business records. After that we delete them. You can ask us to delete your data sooner.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we have about you. Email contact@backstopweb.com and we will reply within 30 days.
Where your data is
We work from El Salvador. Our host and email providers may store data in the United States or other countries.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. Big changes we will also point out on the site.
